Work Title: QCMD: A Versat ile Tool for Studying Soft Interfaces and Biomolecular Interactions
Communication Type: Seminar
Location: Madrid, Spain
By: AWSensors
Description:
Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation, or QCMD, has become an indispensable tool for studying soft interfaces and biomolecular interactions. The range of its applications, from space sciences to virology, is all the more impressive considering the simplicity of the technique. At its core, QCMD is a surface sensing technique based on the piezoelectricity of quartz. In this seminar, we will explore its history, principles, and then focus on its applications in the studies of solid/liquid interfaces using examples from the areas of biophysics, cell- and microbiology, and electrochemistry. The seminar will include a practical demonstration of the new instrument from AWSensors, the X1, that is currently the fastest and the most sensitive QCMD system on the market.
