As a part of activities of CATCH-U-DNA project, Monica Araya-Farias from the Curie Institute (Paris, France) completed a 3 weeks- internship at Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) (Heraklion, Greece). The research activities were performed in collaboration with Nikoletta Naoumi from the BIOSENSORS group managed by Prof. Electra Gizeli at the CRETE University. The experiments were focused on the Workpackage 3: ctDNA enrichment strategies using magnetic beads and the Ligase Chain Reaction. More precisely, the study was conducted to evaluate the effect to combine magnetic beads with Ligase Chain Reaction (LCR) for selective capturing and detection of low concentrations of ctDNA in serum samples using ultra-sensitive acoustic probes.
